The British Motor Museum in Warwickshire holds the World's largest collection of historic British cars but is also a state-of-the-art conference and events venue with 3,000 sqm of internal event space, as well as an additional 9,700 sqm of external event space.
Following a four-year exclusive use deal with Jaguar Land Rover, the British Motor Museum needed to fully upgrade and refurbish its conference and events areas to drive its events business forward.
Initially briefed to refurbish the toilet facilities, the client then engaged Fairway Interiors to undertake the renovation of the Main Conference Suite and Conference Muster areas, with both projects to be finished at the same time.
This called for a full strip out and a full modernisation of male, female and disabled toilets, main suite and muster areas, building new suspended ceilings, installing all new floor coverings and a high tec moveable acoustic partition wall to create a contemporary, flexible and dividable space for up to 600 delegates. Not to mention decorating the space with first-class finishes.
The Conference Suite was fully booked until 23rd July, with a works completion deadline of 20Th August (latest), due to an existing booking for a wedding with several hundred guests. We therefore had a super tight deadline that had to be met, no matter what!
Our experienced team set to work designing the space and undertaking the project in hand that included a full strip out of a combination of suspended and plasterboard ceilings, supply and installation of new suspended ceilings with lay-in tiled grid using Armstrong ULTIMA PLUS OP ceiling tiles.
We created a feature plasterboard ceiling together with bulkheads to all perimeters and either side of the new moveable wall. All doors were replaced with new full height fire regulation laminate doors and the flooring was given the full treatment with brand new Miliken “Out of the Shadows” heavy contract carpet tiles.
We are proud to say that against all the odds, all deadlines were met, the wedding was a great success and and the client was extremely happy, leading to many more subsequent projects at the British Motor Museum.
The venue has since won the accolade of UK’s ‘Best Independent Venue’ at the CHS Awards 2020.
