Overview: Fit out of two-storey regional offices

Colas Limited, a large French Civil Engineering Company with their Head Office in Paris, were relocating their regional office to a larger site at Birmingham Park and invited Fairway to pitch, alongside two other companies.

The extensive project included the installation of various meeting rooms of different sizes, an open plan office space, large reception with Paxton secure entry/exit system and the installation of staff welfare facilities with kitchen, break-out area and shower room.

This was to be achieved with the latest technology (including high-level mechanical, electrical and data installation) and an interior space benefitting from natural light using as much glass, as possible and cutting-edge thermal and acoustic comfort.

We were also briefed to replicate certain design aspects to be consistent with those of the Prism building, including an intricate manifestation pattern to glazed walls with minimalist decorations to solid wall to create a clean, modern environment.

The challenge was to attain optimum acoustic quality in the glass-filled areas, but we achieved this through a combination of a high performance glazed and solid partition system, combined with acoustic baffles above the ceiling and below a raised access floor. We were also under pressure to meet very a tight programme period, but we pulled out all the stops to make sure the deadlines were met.

The client was delighted with the style and quality of finish, including the acoustic properties of all meeting rooms, to such an extent that we were quickly awarded a £ 90,000 refurbishment of their Leeds office, also delivered on time and within budget.
