Overview: Fit out – First Floor 137 Newhall Street

Birmingham based property management company, Principal Estate Management was relocating to a larger office space due to the expansion of the business and needed to allow for future growth within their plans.

The client appointed their own designer to create a sympathetic refurbishment within a listed building listed in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter Conservation Area, famous for its beautiful Georgian and Victorian architecture. Originally a Victorian women’s prison, our client’s new home was a heritage building of special architectural interest and the design and fit out of the space needed to both reflect its history and adhere to strict heritage guidelines.

Winning a 3-way competitive tender, our success was largely down to our general presentation, flexibility and experience in the area.

Working to a relatively tight budget, the brief was to deliver a stylish office environment, in keeping with the heritage building, but providing all the contemporary comfort, services, mod cons and flexible space required for a growing company.

We successfully married the 19th Century building with 21st Century demands in the main office area, maximising light and space with a glazed meeting room to complement the Victorian architecture.

Practicalities and services were provided with the Installation of a new modern, fully equipped kitchen, plenty of bespoke storage wall units to keep the space clean and uncluttered and the installation of a new lighting design, sympathetic to the building’s internal architecture. Our work also extended to the full decoration of the office space.

Principal Estate Management was delighted with the end result, particularly due to the way in which the designer’s vision was successfully delivered, and importantly, all on time and within budget.
